Day one, yesterday, took us as far as Saugertie, NY, where we decided to call it a day.
As things turned out, the Net service would not function properly in the Comfort Inn we
chose. sigh.

We awoke to snowy weather with two inches blanketing the car, but departed happy in the
thought that we had at least crossed the Adirondacks. Still, we passed many vehicles that
skidded into ditches, unnecessarily I might add.

Then in Baltimore we inched past a huge accident on northbound 95 featuring a crashed and
burning trailer truck and a huge assembly of police cars, fire trucks, tow trucks, ambulances,
all under a glittering and blinking sea of red and blue lights.

The snow quickly turned to rain as we continued south, passing Washington in the quickest time
ever - almost non-stop. We are now at a Best Western in Doswell, Virginia and their Net
connection appears to work.

It's been fun letting "Lucy" - the voice on our GPS - guide us through the dense urban stretch.
When her directions were different from the MapQuest printout we put our faith in Lucy for
the fastest route. So far so good.
